一般水质正常的室外游泳池，其水中的余氯应保持在.3-.5mg/L，PH值维持在7.4-7.6，这个环境下，细菌及藻类都不容易生长、繁殖。连续下雨、下雪后，水中的余氯一般会达不到标准，而且水的PH会，这样细菌及藻类就有了生长的空间。而且下雨时的空气中的孢子、草坪和泥土的冲刷物进入水体都会带入藻类，那么在夏季游泳池水温高的情况下（一般在28-3度），细菌及藻类就会迅速繁殖，使游泳池的水在很短的时间内变绿。
