系统组态除两级软件密码保护外，还受RIM前面板上钥匙锁的控制，以防止未授权的修改或随意改动。RIM可以通过前面板上的串行通讯端口与便携式计算机连接，现场修改组态。也可通过后面板上的串行通讯端口连接到组态工作站上，或通过可选的安装在RIM中的调制解调器与远程计算机相连。RIM提供前面板DIP开关，当多个3500框架通过网络互联时，可以赋予其地址。
RIM前面板上具有一个系统复位开关，可以清除系统中任何闭锁的报警以及闭锁的NOT OK状态。RIM的后面板上还提供一套接口，允许远
程激活复位开关。
