仪器的种类客户可以根据使用的仪器种类来选择纯水机。液相用水的电阻大于18兆欧；并且要去除有机物；原子吸收、原子荧光及环境监测仪器用水大于18兆欧就行；PCR等生命科学仪器用水除了电阻大于18兆欧以外，还需，除有机物，除热源。目前用水的来源如果客户目前的用水是合格的，也可以将该纯水的来源方式告知纯水机厂商，其技术人员会根据该情况来相应的纯水机规格型号。以上三种原则是根据实际的应用经验得来的，但是准确的型号选择还是尽量提供详细的水质参数，如电阻、微量元素、细菌、有机碳水平等。
