Solution:
The manufacturer and model number for the fan used in the PXI-1002 chassis is the Mechotronics E1225. This fan is rated at 3000 revolutions per minute (RPM). The air volume in cubic feet per minute (CFM) is 93 (8.64 cubic meters per minute). For EMC it complies with CE C-Tick and FCC part 15. The fan in the PXI-1002 complies with all PXI specifications regarding cooling.
The air volume specification (93 CFM) is measured in "Free Air". This is the total volume of air that the fan can pass if it were spinning in free air. This is not the typical operating CFM. The operating CFM will be affected by peripheral components back pressure etc.
Fans and blowers are rated by CFM delivered with no back-pressure. Back-pressure is the force required to push air down a duct or through any other constriction. Louvers on light reflectors air filters or anything that hinders the free flow of air cause back-pressure. It is not unusual that a typical blower connected to a simple flex duct will pump only 1/3 to 1/2 the air that it is rated for.
